Heavy duty wire rope thimbles are used to keep wire rope eyes from being crushed or by guiding it into a set curved shape for additional support. This also helps to extend the manipulated life of the wire rope by protecting it from abrasion or rubbing, which can eventually wear down the wire.
Each heavy duty thimble is hot dipped galvanized for an even protective zinc coating which helps to prevent corrosion and rusting on the thimble itself. All heavy duty thimbles sold by Elite Sales are made to Federal Specification FF-T-276 Type 3.
